This picturesque town is located in the Niagara Peninsula, where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario.
It is known for its old town charm, historic monuments, wineries, theatre venues and fine dining. Niagara-on-the-Lake was traditionally a cluster of beautiful historic homes, or large residential homes that run along the Niagara Parkway and River, surrounded by orchards and vineyards.
It has further developed some newer residential neighbourhoods in the past ten years and offers something for everyone. It has been rated one of the best places to retire to and has a large percentage of seniors.

There are many amazing wineries to visit, and at Wayne Gretzky Estate Winery you can go for an ice skate in the winter or check out the amazing memorabilia inside after tasting Whisky in the distillery,
Rief Estate Winery offers tastings of fine Rieslings, or Riverview Cellars Winery can offer you a truly delightful Sauvignon Blanc.
Wine tours can be explored using driving companies, bike rentals, or by horse and carriage!
Outdoor Parks and Recreational Activities
There are many beautiful outdoor parks and areas to explore in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Queen’s Royal Park is a waterfront green space with a small beach, gazebo and picnic tables perfect for an outdoor lunch.
Queenston Heights Park offers amazing views over the Niagara River, and historical monuments including a towering tribute to General Brock.
There are also many opportunities in this area to hike or bike along the Bruce Trail as it winds along the Niagara River.


Schools
Niagara-on-the-Lake is serviced by the District School Board of Niagara and the Niagara Catholic District School Board.
There are a number of elementary and secondary schools in this area. Be sure to check on the board website to find out which school services the neighbourhood you are considering. Niagara Falls also has a Niagara College campus and is a short drive to Brock University.
